Rolling right along now with our BIG Contest Winners! In the previous two entries, I congratulated Grand Prize Winner Blake Shields and our Second Prize Winner Laura Sharkey, as well as going over some details on how I scored the entries.
Third Prize goes to Doreen Chiha Maalouf.
Doreen’s photo is very welcoming, it feels simultaneously confident and humble, and also creates the impression (either literally or symbolically) that she is welcoming the viewer into the physical space where she provides her services. Strong. Simple. Effective.
Doreen uses a first person story-telling style to very naturally tell us how and why she is passionate about offering private bodywork. She openly shares a glimpse into her journey from feeling terrified, to feeling ready to explore her own mind and body, to wanting to guide others. We get an immediate sense of her sincerity, honesty and grounded-ness. In describing the fear she is overcoming, Doreen shows us her level of introspection and insight about how her childhood feelings of inadequacy get projected onto present situations, and how to keep moving forward. If I were looking for bodywork, or for a teacher or guide into healing and growth via any modality, this “brand” Doreen creates would draw me in and feel a sense of trust, curiosity, and most importantly: that she had a level of depth, and a respect for the vulnerability I might be feeling.
Congratulations Doreen!
I look forward to our career coaching session, and supporting you in reaching your goals as you integrate teaching public yoga classes with offering private bodywork sessions.
