The single most frequent question I get from yoga teachers about music is this:“But where do you find all this great music?!”
I am a big fan of real DJ’s, and of a kind of old-school romance of what is called “digging” for music in the basements of old record shops, through milk crates filled with faded and forgotten LP’s
But we live in a different world now!
Even though there still is this essence of having to actively seek out music if you are serious about having a great library that you enjoy sharing with your students —the access is so much easier, and best of all can mostly be done right where you are reading this message…
So here are your top three tips on how to find great music:
1) Activate “Genius” on your computer —it is an amazing service through iTunes that will scan through your existing library and then make recommendations for you based on the kinds of music you like.
2) Create Pandora stations based on your favorite songs and listen to them as you do your chores, check email (or as I am doing right now) work online. You’ll find great new songs that are similar to the ones you already love.
3) Subscribe to youtube channels that have videos of your favorite songs. Each day you’ll have new music to check out under “My Subscriptions” when you log in!
These three strategies are part of what I will guide you through in much more depth in the first lesson video of the Ultimate Music Mastery course as we create and expand your “Master Playlists” that you will then draw from to create your specific class and event playlists in the future.
